One thing you never expect when emptying a pond is to find another pond underneath, just as filled as the last one.
Unfortunately this is what I found today…

First image shows the removed pond liner, underneath was the 2nd pond!
The reason for doing this may not be particularly evident, especially since I want to dig another one. Because we’re redesigning the garden the last thing I want in the pond at this time of year is frog spawn!
During the emptying process I managed to move three frogs, though the newts I’d seen seem to have disappeared.
